PHH - Mortgage service kickbacks class action settlement
What is the PHH Corp. settlement about?
This lawsuit alleges that PHH Corp., PHH Mortgage Corp., PHH Home Loans LLC, and Atrium Insurance Corp. engaged in an illegal captive mortgage reinsurance scheme. According to the plaintiffs, PHH violated federal law by accepting kickbacks related to private mortgage insurance purchased by borrowers whose loans were originated or acquired by PHH.
PHH denies any wrongdoing, but the parties agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation and uncertainty.
How much is the PHH Corp. settlement payout?
If you're eligible and file a claim, you may receive a cash payment of $875 per qualifying loan.
This settlement provides a fixed payment, meaning each eligible loan receives the same amount regardless of how many Class Members submit claims.
Final payout amounts are not reduced by the number of claims; they are fixed per loan.
Am I eligible to file a claim?
You may be eligible if:
- You obtained a residential mortgage loan that was originated and/or acquired by PHH or its affiliates between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2009,
