Google, YouTube - Data Privacy Class Action Settlement

What Is the Google Children’s Privacy Settlement About?

The Hubbard v. Google class action lawsuit alleges that Google LLC and YouTube LLC violated federal and state privacy laws by tracking and collecting personal data from children under the age of 13 without parental consent. According to plaintiffs, Google gathered data from kids who watched child-directed content on YouTube between July 1, 2013 and April 1, 2020. Google denies any wrongdoing, but agreed to a settlement to resolve the lawsuit.

How Much Is the Google Children’s Privacy Settlement Payout?

Eligible class members who submit a valid claim may receive a cash payment from the $30 million Settlement Fund.
The exact amount each claimant receives will depend on:

  • The number of valid claims submitted
  • Court-approved deductions (attorney fees, administration, taxes, and service awards)

The final payout is not predetermined — payments will be distributed on a pro-rata basis after the claims period ends.

Am I Eligible to File a Claim?

You may be eligible for payment if:

  • You (or your child) lived in the United States at any time from July 1, 2013 to April 1, 2020,
  • Were under 13 years old, and
  • Watched content allegedly directed to children on YouTube during that period.

If those conditions apply, you may qualify to receive compensation from the Google children’s privacy settlement.

Is the Google Children’s Privacy Settlement Legit?

Yes. The Google children’s privacy settlement is legitimate, and the official settlement website (as authorized by the Court) provides full documentation and the claim form. Through that site, consumers can:

  • File a claim for compensation
  • Read the full Notice

  • Contact the settlement administrator for help

The case is overseen by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division, under Case No. 5:19-cv-07016-SVK.

When’s the Claim Deadline?
