$299.5 Million Toyota Forklift Emissions Class Action Settlement
What Is the Toyota Forklift Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that emissions levels from certain Toyota internal-combustion forklifts manufactured between 2007 and 2021 were misrepresented and exceeded regulatory limits. The defendants deny the claims, and the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing.
How Much Is the Toyota Forklift Settlement Payout?
The settlement provides three benefit types:
- Cash from the $299.5 million fund. The official FAQ says compensation is likely to range from $1,000 to $2,500 per qualifying forklift, although the amount may be higher or lower.
- One service-plan visit for each operable qualifying forklift, including labor and travel, when scheduled with an authorized dealer within the program period.
- A new-parts warranty if Toyota offers a qualifying government-approved or authorized recall by October 31, 2028.
Cash is allocated per forklift. If more than one valid claim is submitted for the same forklift, the original new purchaser receives 60% of the allocation and the remaining 40% is divided among other valid claimants.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify if you purchased or leased a covered Toyota internal-combustion forklift in the United States on or before January 20, 2026. Covered units use specified 4Y, 1FS, 1KD or 1ZS engines and must match the official model and year ranges. Check the model and serial number against the official list.
Is the Toyota Forklift Settlement Legit?
Yes. Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted final approval. Verita Global administers the court-authorized claim site. Filing is free.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
Submit a cash claim online or by mail no later than September 23, 2026. The current official homepage, FAQ and important-dates page use this deadline, which is 75 days after the court’s July 10 final approval order. Service-plan benefits are requested separately through an authorized Toyota Material Handling dealer.
Who Qualifies for the Toyota Forklift Settlement?
Both individuals and businesses can qualify. A Toyota brand name alone is not enough; the forklift must match an eligible engine, model and year. Benefits follow the qualifying forklift, and different owners or lessees may file for the same unit, which affects how its cash allocation is divided.
How Do I File a Toyota Forklift Settlement Claim Form?
Use the official website to submit a separate claim for each qualifying forklift. A Claim ID and PIN can speed online filing but are not required. Provide the claimant’s information, model and serial number and ownership or lease dates; the administrator may later request supporting proof. If the claim is incomplete, the administrator generally provides 30 days to cure the deficiency. Contact an authorized Toyota Material Handling dealer separately to arrange the service-plan visit.
