What Is the Tesla Idle-Fee Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that Tesla imposed idle fees on certain customers who purchased vehicles with free lifetime Supercharging and that Tesla disabled, or threatened to disable, Supercharger access when customers did not pay. Tesla contends the fees and its conduct complied with the relevant agreements and applicable law and denies that the claims have merit.
How Much Is the Tesla Settlement Payout?
The benefits are cumulative when the requirements for more than one benefit are met:
- Qualifying former owners may elect a $10 payment.
- Class members may receive a refund of idle fees paid through the settlement date, based on Tesla’s records.
- A $50 payment is available if access was disabled for less than 30 days because of unpaid idle or other fees.
- A $350 payment is available if access was disabled for at least 30 consecutive days, subject to record validation.
- Current owners receive noncash relief that includes restoration or non-disabling of covered Supercharger access and waiver of qualifying unpaid historical idle fees.
The settlement does not prevent Tesla from assessing idle fees incurred after the agreement date.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify only if you received a Tesla vehicle in California before December 16, 2016, continued to own it after that date, were a California citizen as of June 21, 2021, and your purchase agreement described the vehicle as “Supercharger Enabled,” “Supercharger Hardware,” or “Supercharger Hardware & Access.”
Is the Tesla Idle-Fee Settlement Legit?

When’s the Claim Deadline?
Online claims must be submitted by September 25, 2026. Mailed forms, including any required supporting material, must be postmarked by that date. The final approval hearing is scheduled for December 2, 2026.
Who Qualifies for the Tesla Settlement?
This is not a settlement for all Tesla owners or everyone who used a Supercharger. Tesla’s records identify the affected early vehicles, and the class requires all four criteria in the court-approved definition. A class member with more than one eligible vehicle must submit a separate claim for each vehicle.
How Do I File a Tesla Settlement Claim Form?
Log in to the official claim form using the Login ID and PIN in the notice. If the credentials are missing, contact Simpluris with your full name and mailing address. Submit one claim per eligible vehicle, provide the VIN and requested attestations, and identify the approximate year or years of any 30-day disabling period for a $350 request. Tesla records determine paid idle fees and disablement duration.
