Hyundai, Kia - airbag control units class action settlement
What is the Hyundai-Kia airbag control unit settlement about?
This lawsuit alleges that several Hyundai and Kia vehicles were equipped with defective ZF-TRW airbag control units (ACUs). These ACUs are allegedly vulnerable to a condition called electrical overstress, which can cause the airbags and other safety features to fail during a collision.
Although the Settling Defendants deny any wrongdoing, they agreed to a settlement to resolve the claims and avoid continued litigation.
How much is the Hyundai-Kia airbag control unit settlement payout?
If you're eligible and file a claim, you may receive a cash payment depending on your vehicle type:
- Up to $350 for recalled vehicles
- Up to $150 for unrecalled vehicles
You may also qualify for reimbursement of various recall-related out-of-pocket expenses, including towing, rental cars, childcare, lost wages, and ACU repairs.
The final payout amount will vary based on the number of valid claims submitted.
