What Is the Google Play Children’s Privacy Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that Google and AdMob collected, used and disclosed personal information from children younger than 13 through Google Play apps without parental consent and used some information for behavioral advertising. Plaintiffs contend the practices violated children’s privacy rights. The defendants deny the allegations.
How Much Is the Google Play Settlement Payout?
The payment is not fixed. After court-approved attorneys’ fees, costs, service awards and notice and administration expenses are deducted, the net fund will be divided pro rata among valid claimants. The amount therefore depends on how many valid claims are filed. Any remaining money will go to a court-approved charitable recipient rather than return to the defendants.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify if you live in the United States and, from April 1, 2015, through the present, you were younger than 13 when you downloaded or otherwise used a Google Play app and Google or AdMob allegedly collected, used or disclosed your personal information. Each class member may submit one claim.
Is the Google Play Children’s Privacy Settlement Legit?
Yes. Judge P. Casey Pitts of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California is overseeing the case. Kroll controls the court-authorized settlement site. Filing is free.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
Submit the online claim by 11:59 p.m. or mail a completed claim form postmarked by September 14, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for September 24, 2026. Payments cannot be distributed unless the court approves the settlement and any appeals are resolved.
Who Qualifies for the Google Play Settlement?
Eligibility turns on the age of the app user at the time of use, the use of a Google Play app during the class period, U.S. residence and the alleged collection, use or disclosure of that person’s information. Being the parent of a child who used an app does not make the parent the class member; the parent or guardian files on the child’s behalf when required.
How Do I File a Google Play Settlement Claim Form?
Use the official website to file online or download the paper form. Online filing requires a Settlement Class Member ID; if you do not have one, first complete the official registration form and use the ID emailed to you. A class member who was at least 18 on May 29, 2026, signs their own claim. If the class member was younger than 18 on that date, a parent or legal guardian must submit and sign for them. Third-party claims are not accepted. Keep the confirmation and update Kroll if contact information changes.
