Globe Life and American Income Life Data Breach Class Action Settlement
What Is the Globe Life and American Income Life Settlement About?
Around October 2, 2024, an unknown actor threatened to publish customer and prospective-customer information unless paid a ransom. Potentially affected data included names, addresses, emails, telephone and Social Security numbers, health information and policy details. Notification letters were sent March–June 2025.
How Much Is the Globe Life Settlement Payout?
Eligible class members can request either or both cash benefits:
- Documented losses: up to $5,000 in qualifying, unreimbursed expenses more likely than not caused by the incident.
- Lost time: up to four hours at $18 per hour, or $72, for time spent responding to the incident.
Payments decrease proportionally if approved cash claims exceed the $3.4 million cap. Monitoring, approved attorneys’ fees and other agreed costs are funded separately.
Members who remain in the settlement can activate two years of Cyex Financial Shield Complete after final approval and effectiveness, without filing a cash claim.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify if American Income Life and/or Globe Life sent you a letter stating that your personal information may have been involved in the October 2024 incident. Being a policyholder by itself is insufficient; the notice-defined population controls.
Losses and time must fall between October 1, 2024, and the date settlement postcards were sent. Already reimbursed expenses are excluded. Lost time requires self-certification; loss claims require third-party records.
Is the Globe Life and American Income Life Settlement Legit?
Yes. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas oversees the case. Kroll operates the court-authorized website. Final approval is pending, with a hearing scheduled for December 14, 2026.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
Submit an online cash claim by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on October 19, 2026, or mail a paper claim postmarked by that date. The separate exclusion and objection deadlines are November 16, 2026. Cash distributions and monitoring activation follow final approval and resolution of any appeals.
Who Qualifies for the Globe Life Settlement?
The notice-defined class includes qualifying customers and prospective customers whose information was involved.
Excluded are defendants’ directors, officers and agents; governmental entities; the assigned judge, immediate family and court staff; and people who validly opt out. Contact Kroll if your notice or Class Member ID is missing.
How Do I File a Globe Life Settlement Claim Form?
Select Submit Claim on the official website and enter your Class Member ID. Complete one claim selecting documented losses, lost time or both. For losses, attach readable receipts, account statements, correspondence or similar third-party records. Your own statement can explain those records but cannot replace them.
Qualifying expenses may include incident-related bank charges, monitoring purchases, identification replacement, postage and professional assistance. For lost time, certify the hours spent responding; the FAQ includes incident-related anxiety, stress or lost sleep.
Alternatively, mail the paper form to Kroll. Keep a copy and notify Kroll of address changes or a missing monitoring code.
