$117.5 Million Comcast Xfinity Data Breach Class Action Settlement
What Is the Comcast Xfinity Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that an unauthorized third party accessed Comcast systems from October 16 through October 19, 2023, and that Comcast failed to protect customer information, maintained inadequate security and did not provide proper notice. Plaintiffs asserted federal Cable Act, state consumer-law and common-law claims. Comcast denies wrongdoing and liability.
How Much Is the Comcast Settlement Payout?
A class member may choose the greater approved cash path:
- An estimated $50 alternative cash payment, subject to pro-rata adjustment; or
- Reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses plus up to five hours of lost time at $30 per hour, with a combined cap of $10,000.
Class members are also eligible for three years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete and identity-restoration services, including $1 million in identity-theft insurance. Those identity services are automatic for eligible class members and do not require a cash claim form. The final cash amounts can be adjusted based on available net funds.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify if you lived in the United States or a U.S. territory and Comcast sent you individual notice that your information may have been involved in the October 2023 breach. The settlement includes Xfinity customers who meet that notice-based class definition, subject to the official exclusions.
Is the Comcast Xfinity Settlement Legit?
Yes. Judge John Milton Younge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania granted final approval on August 20, 2026. Kroll operates the court-authorized settlement website. Filing is free.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
Submit the online claim by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time or mail the completed form postmarked by September 14, 2026. Final approval does not mean immediate payment; distribution still depends on the settlement’s effective date and any appeal.
Who Qualifies for the Comcast Settlement?
The class is not every Comcast or Xfinity customer. It is limited to people sent an individual notice of the October 2023 data breach. If the notice or Class Member ID is missing, use the ID lookup or contact Kroll before filing.
How Do I File a Comcast Settlement Claim Form?
Use the official claim portal and the Class Member ID from the notice. Choose either alternative cash or the out-of-pocket/lost-time route. Upload bank statements, invoices, receipts or other reasonable records for documented losses; self-prepared records alone are insufficient. Lost-time claims require an explanation and certification. Identity-defense and restoration services do not require a cash claim. Keep the confirmation and retain copies of every document submitted.
