Coleman and Bestway Above-Ground Pool Class Action Settlement
What Is the Coleman and Bestway Pool Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that compression straps outside the vertical supports of certain pools create a potential drowning hazard. Plaintiffs also claim Bestway's voluntary recall was inadequate because it did not offer a monetary remedy. Bestway disputes those allegations and agreed to settle to resolve the litigation.
The cash settlement concerns covered models sold from 2008 through 2024. It does not end the July 2025 recall or require consumers to abandon personal-injury or property-damage claims.
How Much Is the Coleman and Bestway Pool Settlement Payout?
Approved claimants qualify for one of these payment calculations:
- $40 if no valid purchase documentation is submitted.
- Ten percent of the actual purchase price shown by valid proof of purchase.
- Ten percent of the identified product's average retail price when valid purchase evidence does not show the actual price paid.
Payments may be adjusted pro rata. The $15 million fund also covers approved legal fees, expenses, service awards and administration costs. The court must approve the settlement, and any appeals must be resolved, before payments can be distributed.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may qualify if all of these conditions apply:
- You are in the United States, including its territories and the District of Columbia.
- You bought a covered Bestway-branded pool from a retailer for personal use before May 4, 2026.
- The pool is at least 48 inches tall and has compression straps outside its support poles.
- It is one of the covered pool models sold during 2008–2024, including qualifying Coleman Power Steel, Power Steel and Steel Pro products.
- You did not buy the pool secondhand or for resale and have not opted out.
Is the Coleman and Bestway Pool Settlement Legit?
Yes. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois preliminarily approved the settlement and appointed EisnerAmper LLP as administrator. PoolSettlementBW.com is the court-authorized site. Preliminary approval permits claims; it is not a finding of liability.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
Submit the claim online or mail it with a postmark no later than October 30, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for November 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Central Time. The hearing date may change, so check the official website for updates.
Who Qualifies for the Coleman and Bestway Pool Settlement?
Eligibility depends on the specific pool and retail purchase, rather than ownership of any Coleman or Bestway product. Only one claim is allowed per household, including everyone sharing the same residential address. Retailers, wholesalers, distributors, secondhand purchasers and other expressly excluded parties cannot recover.
You do not need to participate in the pool recall to submit this settlement claim. Recall rights remain separate, and doing nothing in the settlement does not end those rights.
